I am totally stoked!
I have been on a hunt for a new side table for my living room for quite some time now and everything I was coming across either
1. I didn't like it.
2. Ain't no way I'm paying that much for it! (Yes, I brought out the "ain't word for this one!")
3. Ain't no way I'm paying that much for it!
I'm cheap.
I never even thought of going to a thrift store to find furniture and just redo it myself. That is until I clicked on a blog, which led to another, and then to 356 more. Then the light came on in that ole noggin of mine,
"Kirby, get your butt down to the thrift sore and find you a piece of junk and do it yourself you crazy kid you!"
So I did!
I found me a side table for $15 bucks. All banged up and no knobs. Sounds like a winner to me! And the thing is heavy! It took 2 of us to get it into my trunk. But I sure was grinning the whole way home.
Of course I couldn't wait, every time I walked out to my garage it was looking at me wanting to be prettyfied (not so sure that is a word, but I'll take it!) and in my house where it was warm! Saturday was actually half decent here, not to cold and the snow had melted so I went at it.
I cleaned it up, I sanded, I primed, I painted, I drank a glass of wine while I waited, I painted again, I attached my new knobs (my favorite part of it), and I moved her on in...and I cried tears of joy. Finally a side table, it won't be so dark in my living room anymore. One side table wasn't cutting it.
Please note: No, no one got hurt in this process, that is not blood, it is red spray paint for another little project I'll be showing you soon!
Once again, no one was shot in this process, even though a little birdie did leave me a little treasure on top it when I got back home and I was not to happy about it, I let it live...
Ok, another note...I don't kill little birdies...
Looks like a little white puffy cloud kinda, I ran out of primer...
And here she is! (Go easy on me, my first time remember!) I was going to distress it a little bit, but then I kinda just like the clean look to it so I left it alone. I'm quite happy about it. And I can't wait to do more! I dream of thrift stores now!
I have looked through so many blogs and am truly amazed what y'all do to them! A real inspiration if you ask me!
Have a fabulous day!
Kirby

Super cute! Can't wait to see the next one!
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time finding old furniture too -- I would love a little side table like that in my entryway. Love the new look...worth every tear of joy that you shed. Joni
ReplyDeleteIT LOOKS FABULOUS!
ReplyDeleteWow! Maybe in the summer I will dabble in remodeling/refurnishing furniture. I have a few pieces already that went through my fiance's "college stage" that need a lot of work. Maybe that will be my goal. I hear you though, I can be pretty cheap too. Plus furniture these days are outrageously priced.
ReplyDeleteI love it, you did a great job! We have the same floral arrangement, too! ;) X0 ~Liz
ReplyDeleteLove it, I definitely need this inspiration:)
